João Amador holds a Degree and a Ph.D. in Economics from the Nova School of Business and Economics and joined Banco de Portugal as economist in 2000. At the Economics and Research Department, he was Head of the Structural Studies Unit between 2005 and 2013 and Head of the Public Finance and Structural Studies Division between 2013 and 2019. He is Adjunct Associate Professor at Nova School of Business and Economics since 1993. His research interests are international trade, global value chains, productivity and economic growth. He is representative of Banco de Portugal on the Economic Policy Committee of the Council of the European Union and on the Economic and Development Review Committee of the OECD.
